Ankara Festival – The Origin
Ankara Festival began in London in 2008 as one of the earliest platforms in the African diaspora dedicated to celebrating African print fashion and creativity.
At a time when African prints had not yet entered global fashion conversations, the festival brought together designers, models, stylists, and creatives to showcase the beauty of African textiles.
What started as a cultural gathering quickly became a vibrant celebration of African identity in the diaspora — featuring runway shows, live performances, exhibitions, and community recognition.
Today, Ankara Festival returns to honour its roots while celebrating a new generation of designers and storytellers.
Ankara Festival is produced and documented by Femi Focus Media.
